Stinking Dogs
FOUND by Eric Weisman in New Mexico
I found this posted on a laundromat's bulletin board.

That's funny, because New Mexico is one of the most isolated places I've ever been through.

Way to not take responsibility for cleaning up your dog's poop, 915! Sheesh!

What? No stinking cats? Oh, I get it. Most felines are careful about personal hygiene, right?

Inconsistent writing size...swooping lines at the end of letters - looks like classic serial killer handwriting. Watch out New Mexico!!!

I don't think the "stinking dogs" comment was literal. Pretty sure he probably wanted to say f-ing (or damn, at best) but opted for the less offensive (well, unless you're a dog, I suppose).

Here's my thing w/it all: when ppl complain about a dog barking, it's *usually* b/c the thing never shuts up. Sounds to me like Mr. 915 Poplar is in defensive denial.

often dogs who bark incessantly are bored or not getting enough attention. maybe 915 should play fetch with spike every now and then.

Ah, the classic dog owner who refuses to consider that not everybody loves their dog as much as he does, just can't fathom the very idea, who thinks all the rest of us should have to learn to deal with his problem dog because he doesn't have a clue how to be a responsible owner and figure out a way to get the dog to stop barking.
(How's that for a run-on sentence!)

An archetypal freedom vs. responsibility question. Where's a Libertarian when you need one?

You know it alls. How about the ridiculously annoying and unreasonable laundromat owner who thinks that just because he or she has a service most people need it gives him/her free lisence to be a skeez? I'm a college student, it happens, trust me.

Does no one think about the balls on 915?? Signing your unit, house, apt number? Isn't that kind of asking for trouble?

Dear WHOMEVER: Why does a laundromat owner become a "skeez" because s/he hangs a bulletin board for customers' use?

Well, alrighty then....now, about the poop- will you be picking that up with a plastic bag or a scooper now?

If you bring your stinking dog in the house, where it can be part of the family, it won't bark incessantly, disturbing your neighbors.
People with outdoor only dogs SUCK. :)

Yeah, this person is a jerk in denial who probably leaves his or her dog outside, barking, all night or all day. I've had neighbors like that.

It's possible that this was posted in response to a previous note on the bulletin board. Someone else could have been complaining about how annoying the neighborhood dogs are.
If someone bitched about the dogs in my neighborhood, I would probably tell them to move into a developement where dogs arent allowed.
Maybe thats what this guy was doing.

This guy has it backwards. If he wants to let his dog bark incessantly, then HE is the one who should move someplace isolated.

I was thrilled to hear that the lady across the street complained to our next-door neighbor about their dog barking all night. We'd never actually heard her much, but now that sweet little pup gets to sleep inside! She really is a great dog; she was just sad and lonely outside at night.

Townhome Dweller in my living room, with a pillow over my ears
My neighbor has a dog that goes outside and barks constantly when he isn't home - which is often, because he frequently is out until 10 or 11 o'clock at night. I sometimes have to repeat to myself as a mantra, "It isn't the dog's fault. Taking a hose to the dog would not be cool, even if it does track mud all over the neighbor's place." Poor puppy. Of course, when politely approached about it, he blamed the neighborhood cats who sit on the wall and taunt the dog. Well, of course they do! And one of them is yours! The very same one that poops in my garden constantly because you don't believe in litterboxes. Grrr....

Mickey B - A lot dogs bark when their owners (family) are away at work or school and aren't home...eg stemming from being bored/lack of exercise or lonely *takes offence* my dogs are 90% outdoor dogs and they are perfect!! :) haha.

sadly, one of my dogs is the annoying, incessant barker. we really can't control it; she went deaf and partially blind and barking is pretty much all she can do now. we try to keep her inside, but she's incontinent. i want to have her put to sleep, but since she's technically a relative's dog, we can't (i've tried to give her back too). it annoys the owners just as much as the neighbors!!!

My husband and I have two dogs, both indoors, and a former neighbor told us they barked all day when we weren't home. (Well, the little one did; the big one hardly barks at all but when he does it rattles the windows.) He's kinda the nervous type anyway so it makes sense. Plus the neighbor ran a garage so there were cars in and out all day, voices without faces, all sorts of stuff to make him crazy. Maybe the guy complaining is making a lot of noise which is making the dog bark so he makes more noise to cover it up . . .

Roxy, I wasn't implying there's anything wrong with your dogs. It was the owners I accused of sucking! No offense, you said your dogs do come inside, so I really wasn't referring to you!
Also, I keep my dogs in the house while I'm at work and have a dog walker come halfway through the day to give them some entertainment and exercise. Since they're inside, even if they bark it isn't a problem for the neighbors.

OK, let's talk about the find . . . New Mexico IS isolated! Is the recipient of this note supposed to move to Iceland to get away from barking dogs? I love how people can lose their perspective when they've been in the same place too long!

Well, o.k. I work an off shift so I sleep during the day. My nieghbors outside dogs are always barking. They even bark at the wind, not to mention I think it is animal cruelity that the dogs have cow bells around thier neck that can be heard all day long.

ps I do love animals.

It's actually quite brave as a dog owner to rant to non-dog lovers, and then give your address, cause there are evil psycho ppl out there that could come and poison your dogs... (or like our old neighbors, call the pound when you leave on vacation and the dog-sitter has to leave the dogs out during the day...fortunately a kinder neighbor spotted the situation and retrieved our dogs from the pound for us)...
and lastly, tangenting from the found, dogs bark, and my dog is more important to me than you are, deal with it.

maybe the dogs bark so much because of the eletric fence is sparking that is around their pen. I know, my dog who almost rarely barked did to let me know that his was. I can't tell you how many times that I had to go out and fix it so that everyone could get some sleep.
and maybe the poor dog is hungry and that is the only way he can let his owner(s) know.

Feels like a response doesn't it...has anyone found the first note? Probably something like 'Keep your stinking dogs quite! I don't want to hear barking dogs all day!'
