Thanks Ella!
FOUND by Scott in Helsinki, Finland
This child's drawing was put through the mail slot in my front door. Mail usually comes to the mailbox down the road by my house, so this was hand delivered by someone who thought I needed it. A few days ago was a holiday called Laskiaissunnuntai, which is the beginning of Lent but is really an excuse for people to eat buns filled with whipped cream or jam and go tobogganing.

Laskiaissunnuntai sounds like a good holiday! I want to eat buns with whipped cream and jam! So is the red thing one of the buns?

Kiitti (thanks), cute find Scott in Helsinki. How do you pronounce that holiday? I've a feeling that I will have to mix in an extra breath or two before I get to the end.

I think the red things are lips from a loving kiss. But red buns filled with whipped cream does sound tasty!!!

mur, I was thinking the same thing. With the bun-thing that looks like crude lips, the 'subliminal' message could be something along the lines of "kiss ass/ass kisser" - so perhaps it's not so sweet after all? Or maybe I just have a cynical mind.

It takes one to know one, eh, Mur? For lent I'm giving up insulting people, but that was a total freebie!

In case anyone was wondering, Laskiaissunnuntai is the Finnish word for Shrove Sunday. *shrug* I'm not Finnish; I just have a habit for automatically using Google on things I don't know about.

Interesting drawing, I must say...

Is Shrove Sunday the same thing as Palm Sunday?

Yes, Mary. Shrove Sunday is the same as Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Ash Wednesday.

When I first saw this find I seriously thought it was some sort of reference to lesbianism... And I'm still not convinced that it isn't.

Yep, I'd say this is a "Dirty Find."

Thanks VETTA, (for the excellent one-liner)NOW the drawing takes on a whole new perspective. Leave it to those Euros to have a lesbian holiday. Maybe we could incorporate it into halloween, the possibilities are intriguing.

Woot, a holiday with jam and cream buns, and lesbianism? Sounds like my kind of day!

I didn't realise Lent had started already. Maybe that's why there are Easter eggs in shops already!

Lent starts on Feb. 21. And the Finnish holiday has to begin on Tuesday, because Lent always begins on Ash Wednesday. That's why Mardi Gras is always on a Tuesday. This must be the Finnish equivilant to that.

If Shrove Sunday is the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, it's NOT the same as Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is the Sunday just before Easter.

Billy's right. Lent hasn't started yet; I'm assuming this was submitted a while back and only made it on today. I'm sure the people at found get so many finds that they can't put everything up right away.

And Aislinn's right, too! It's pretty remarkable- you guys send us TWELVE THOUSAND submissions every year. Nuts, right? It usually takes a bit for us to get through everything and get it posted. In this case... um, a little less than a year. Keep them coming, though, we got tons of projects coming up. FOUND 5, DIRTY FOUND 3, and the FOUND Polaroid book, all this spring. We'll be sure to get to everything one way or another. Love, your friends at FOUND.

Yeah, I thought vagina too. The star in the heart kind of throws you off the track, but I definitely see labia and some fuzz. (Am I allowed to say 'labia' on here?)

Hello...I see two sets of lips...the blue lips are that of a luscious woman's peach hidden between her thighs...the ruby lips are that of someone just dying for some peach pudding! The cream between the ruby lips? Tee hee...that's for me to dream about.

WOW! This has gone from fun-filled Found to Craig's list! So, lemme share something my Gramma taught me, since we're on the subject of Lent. Here goes: Easter Sunday is ALWAYS the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon of Spring. Count 40 days back to "book" Ash Wednesday. That's why it changes from year to year.

Well I thought it was an anus or vagina too and I thought the red thing might be a "no entry" sign but I don't know if they look like that in Finland. If it is it would suggest some issues with sex. I'm not sure if a child drew it - the writing looks quite grown-up and the drawing seems like quite talented expressionist free hand sketching (more on the anus than the no-entry sign though.) The thing about it taking a long time to get online - well it has come from Finland and I'm sure they wouldn't have used the most expensive post!

It IS one of the cream-filled buns, you perverts. I remember making them when I was there. It's like a cream puff.

Do a Google image search for 'laskiaispulla' and you will see that the red thing is a bun. The text was probably written by the kid's mother.

Lips, anuses... Herr Freud would be proud of you guys.

This is definitely not a kid's drawing. It's clearly sexual! If it is a cream filled bun that the writing is referring to, that REALLY sounds like a sexual euphemism! As in, a vagina is a cream filled bun...
