Lounge Master Vernon
FOUND by Deborah in San Diego, California
An intriguing letter found in the attic of my friend's home.

Gross! Master Vernon is creeping me out.

Some places I can't read. Does it say " Do not leave your private snack at all" and " Do not attempt to assist or dictate what happens in the house"?

All in all though a very intriguing find.

Master Vernon? it sounds like some kind of sex fantasy note. I wonder how old it is.
it's not a note that if I got, would make me feel relaxed, and like nurturing my mood and self.

Looks like some creepily creative instructions to a mom on Mother's Day.

My guess is it's a sub/dom relationship... It is kinda creepy, but I guess it'd be kinda hot if you were into that kind of thing.

This is clearly an S&M souvenir. Vernon is the dom partner, or Master; the recipient is the sub, or slave. The slave would have arrived at the house by appointment, found the note, and gone immediately to the attic (her 'private chamber') where she would have waited, probably naked, until Master Vernon either summoned her or joined her and gave her further instructions. It's standard practice for a Master to keep his slave in a state of uncertainty and suspense. Lots of fun for those of us who are into the scene!

am i the only one who thinks "relax & nurture your mood and self" sounds like a drug euphemism? in fact, the entire note seems to be written in "code."

I agree with 'me' that the note writer is playing with the idea of master/slave discourse in order to help the presumably overtaxed and overly worried recipient a chance to relax. We all know a person who simply cannot resist taking over and giving directions even when they are not needed. Think of it more as a note that says "go take a nap, I'll take care of the contractor/carpet cleaner/roofers."

I agree "Jess" and "me" - seems like a really cute note. An order to go and relax in a hot bath with candles, while Vernon cooks the dinner and puts the kids to bed...

Mmmmm veeerrrry interesting indeed. My guess is that it IS a D/s note thing - and it was kind of sexy until the whole "Lounge Master Vernon".... "Lounge Master" just brings to mind a velvet suit and a 'thanks very much I'll be here all night' kinda feel...and "Vernon" - well, the ONLY people I've EVER known named Vernon have been old- elderly gentleman who played cards with my Grandparents or was a greeter at church....so that kinda blows it for me there. WHAT a great find for sure!

When i saw this i thought it was instructions from a carer to an unstable mentally ill person that had to be left alone in the house for a while... but now i get that it is probably S&M related (yes i agree its like "The Secretary"). Master Vernon - great!

I do not think this has anything to do w/BDSM (or anything sexual and/or controlling, period). If it had to do w/control, would he have really told her to nurture her mood and self? (Altho the whole "Lounge Master" bit is definitely kind of creepy. *shifty eyes* It's probably an inside joke, tho. I hope.)

Shame on some of y'all for taking what was most likely intended to be a sweet note from a husband who was trying to help his wife save her sanity and turning it into something w/ulterior and self serving (if not naughty) motives. Then again, this IS Found and that's half the fun, so rock on w/your bad selves.

If it is an S&M letter than Master Vernon needs some help. He shouldn't show his indecisiveness by having to cross out "I will" and of course adding the little heart at the bottom...why did he have to underline Lounge Master? He should leave the Vernon out as well, sounds like somebody has been to a few too many comic book conventions eh Vern? Another thing, how can a house be "at large?"

I knew a guy a long time ago from Australia named Vern (short for Vernon). Gawd he was HOT! I agree with Jess and Me though. This guy is just being loving and supportive. I would love to come home and get a note like this and not have to worry about anything. Just because it was found in the attic, doesn't mean that her private chamber was there. It could have been the bathtub all done up with bubbles and candles. All in all, I thought it was sweet and not creepy at all. If my man wanted to play master every now and then while I relaxed in my private space, I'd certainly play along. Score for me!

I'm going to have to agree. This is a husbands cute little note to his wife instructing her to lounge while he takes over all the house duties. Forcing her to relax, for a mom that is usually head of Everything.

Which is really sad. I was hoping for an S&M thing...

Alright guys, this is probably quite simply a husband writing an over-exaggerated note to his stressed-out wife. He is most likely taking the kids out for the day and JOKINGLY 'directing' her to do nothing all day. To LOUNGE and do nothing else. Not everything is so ridiculously complicated. Stop thinking so hard, you'll hurt yourselves.
+ February 01, 2007 07:08 PM +
another sub in content
Personally, I find that kind of note caring and considerate. Master Vernon was instructing his sub to take some time to herself. To relax. To meditate. To just destress. One's private space can be a very safe and comfortable place to be. Everyone needs time to themselves and her Master was obviously allowing her to have that.

I would be sorely disappointed with my Master if he left me a note like that. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to still think of him as the Master. So I agree with the idea that it's a playful, loving note telling the other person (funny we presume it's a woman) to relax.

Also, I know a guy named Vernon who is a douche.

also in sub space
not that anyone's reading these comments anymore, but it's actually very common for a master to tell his/her sub to take some time to relax and de-stress both before and after a scene...what a lot of vanillas don't realize it that a D/s relationship is extremely caring...my Master only beats me because he knows i love it and i want him to push me further, physically and emotionally, than i've ever been. but it can be difficult sometimes (it brings up feelings and memories that can be hard to deal with,) so it's important for a Master to give his/her slave permission to explore the emotions and accept that our bsdm desire aren't wrong, just different.

bottom line, i'm not sure anything would make me as happy as recieving a note like this.

I tend to think it's an S&M Master/slave thing, also. The "Only I can allow you to leave" is all about power. And "chamber" is such an Edgar Allen Poe word that most people just don't think of using as a substitute for room. The not-dictating also seems to reinforce the Master/slave thing. These relationships are, I hear, loving (in a certain weird way). The M/s even agree on certain conventions like if if goes too far they have a secret stop word like "rutabaga" or something they would never usually say that means they're really serious (and when they normally say "stop" they're getting into the S&M playing).

If this was the lovey note for a normal married couple then the husband has a sort of Gothic sense of humor and kudos to him for keeping his wife in her "chamber" all day where she can't do anything without his express written permission first.

I also liked the annoyingly domineering mother theory. Like "if you come out and start criticizing and trying to control everything then we'll chase you back to your chamber and lock you in 'cause we're trying to be sweet even though you're a be-atch." I could sort of see how some kids would feel that way if the mother was of a bossy kind that always pushed people around, picked on them, started fights, etc.
