We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
That's actually pretty... GOOD. And TRUE. My favorite "found" in a while.
i really like the googly eyes.
the note pad itself is interesting. Leaderless Resistance?
We are all numbers!
Is this some kind of "matrix" inspired conspiracy? I like this find, "I don't wanna be a statistic on a government chart".
Took me a minute to realize that was a face and not something else...
i wonder if they all looked the same. reminds me of 1984 more than the matrix.
Great find! Serial grafitti is my favorite flavor!
Leaderless Resistance refers to an anti-establishment approach where small cells act against organizations, governments, etc. The cells have no leaders, no real structure, and no organized communication, so they are hard to pursue. Pretty interesting. I wiki-d this after seeing the find. Edutainment!
I call dibs on 5, 82, and 407!
fine, but I get 3.14, 64, 13 and 1084
i'm not only pi, i'm eight squared, one of the first prime numbers and divisible by 2.
Interesting choice of numbers, Brad
At my school, everyone is a number!
I am curious as to if the "doodle" is, indeed, a drawing, or if it was pre printed on this paper along with the letterhead.
It looks more like some cheap advertising for this book than anything else (note the "excerpt from" notation at the top)
-The book, by the way, appears nowhere in Bowkers BIP, either as a current or out of print book
An updated version of Kilroy - I like it.
the concept of Leaderless Resistance reminds me of the Brotherhood in Orwell's 1984. too loosely organized to ever be caugt, but unable to create any immediate change.
i want 1. I'M #1!!!
I think I remember that phrase from some old math song they used to drill into our heads at school....something like my "zero hero"...i dunno though. Nice find.
This makes me laugh. At first you read the top sentence and think, "YEAH! I am a not a number! I am a human being!" But then, you read the bottom and think, "Oh. Darn."
I am defiantly Pi!
I claim 42!
I am 8.
Heather in Dayton: Um, yeah, me and you both....
Hey there's nothing crazy about this note. Nonheirarchical resistance is the only idea that makes any sense in this crazy world.
This note has made me happy - "I am not a number" is a quote from a brilliant TV show called The Prisoner (theres loads about it on Wikipedia). It's a bizarre show that has a massive cult following (think something like Lost, but from the 60s).
at school my number is 353990. but I like 2 and 6 and I get i (the negative square root of 1-which is imaginary)
Ahhh, I'm from Frederick, away for school... Wish that I'd have seen these around when I was back home!
Genius.
This seems a bit "Project Mayhem"-ish to me. "We are the scum of this world." Fight Club, and for the record.. BOOK > movie.
Not quite, Stephanie. You clearly do not get 'i'. It is not the negative root of one, but the root of negative one. Quite, quite different.
It freaks me out a bit.

He looks stoned.
this makes me think of the story "eleven" by sandra cisneros, where the girl says she is not just eleven, but also ten, nine, eight, seven, and so on.
