We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Or it could be, in German, "Those! Those!"
I picture one of the punk kids that hang out on Franklin Street in our town .Maybe this is the name of their garage band .
Maybe the drawing was done by someone who wanted the owner of the matches to quit...
Arsonist? Obah yo.
Perhaps it was left specifically for you to find. An omen?
Hey Tegan, I think you missed an alternative. Perhaps the owner was finally overcome by lung cancer and fulfilled the promise.
I'm going to go with a goth that carried around matches to light black candles... just for fun. After one lighting, the spirits rose up and took them away into the wind, and the matches simply tumbled from their fingertips.
Ya, I'm going with that.
I think this was a matchbook message to the Sy$tem! Tegan, since the previous holder of the matches didn't succeed, it's up to you! Burn the Sy$tem down!!!
scorpi, we have what some consider to be a Greensboro equivalent to Franklin Street, Tate Street, but that is quite a sad overstatement. But I also see the Tater Tots (as we son lovingly call them) brandishing these xhardcorex matches.
Ya'all lookin to far into this. This was just some bored doodler waiting around at a restaurant or a bar and eventually just tossed the matchbook aside.
maybe it was a note-to-self...?
@ shannoxx:
Oh pfffffttt...who wants to believe that? Not me.
That is so punk.
i live a block from 4th st. :] nice to see local things
I'm going to go with Kay and say someone else was trying to motivate or it is an omen...
I used to work at the Hard Times Cafe and we used to draw and stamp on matchbooks this is one of them!!!!
I had a book of those! cheers to the hard times cafe!
I used to buy blank matchbooks and inscribe them myself. "Visit Beautiful MARS," one said. "Bring your own air."
