kc in the sunshine van

About Me: I'm a high school English teacher in Texas. I love to read, and 'most anything with words, which is why I dig Found and PostSecret. When I grow up I want to be Claire Randall Fraser. I believe in the Free State project but doubt there are enough sensible people to make a go of it. I don't have a TV and don't miss it, although I do watch Lost online religiously.

Best Sites Ever: 15 Minute lunch, The Best Page in the Universe, Good Reads, Pandora Music Genome Project

I like this. If I was Kyle, I would have kept it to remind myself that loving someone doesn't mean that you won't get angry with them, and vice versa. And I do think it was some sort of obligatory money, like for lunch or allowance, not a bribe.…  more»

I love the spelling - "huchie" looks so much more modern. And except for an implied criticism in the connotation of "huchie," there's no judgment here. I almost wonder if they were thinking, "I want to be just like her" or maybe "I think she'd be a cool friend."  more»

Winston - you made my day; I *do* own a bungalow with a big porch! However, if I can suggest an addendum to your wish, "Own a house with a front porch I don't mind using because my neighbors aren't drunken tools who want to babble on everytime I set foot out the front door."  more»

This is a smart wisher - getting alot of mileage out of those three. "I wish to have everything that I want"?

One of these things is not like the others...The last one gave me a start, sort of like #3 on the list found the other day. Mandy's explination sort of makes sense, except, why not just say "string tomatoes" with no UP?…  more»

I'm a little puzzled about the "In Honor of Women's History Month." I know women have been waxing, plucking, shaving different parts for quite a long time, so what's the connexion? Unless they did a bra burning, too, then I could see it.…  more»

Since freedom isn't free, I'd put my name and address on the card so someone can send me $20.

I don't want nobody baby

Just for clarification, White Settlement is a very small, blue collar suburb of Fort Worth. It's nowhere near West Texas, so I'm not sure what Kira's going on about with "Texans of a Western Persuasion." Perhaps she means those cowboy wanna-bes that others call "goat ropers"?…  more»

About the Found: I thought it was one of those exercises of "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" (or maybe 20, because of the umbrella thing).

Regardless of religion, to me the words "there can be peace and everyone can have equal rights" jumped off the page. Those two things seem very different to me; not necessarily incompatible, but it makes me picture situations in which there could be one and not the other. One that comes to mind is a family: the household could be (generally) peaceful, but the adults would have different rights than the children, and different priveleges as well.…  more»

I am completely confused by the comments, not the Found. David (the submitter) clearly says "A friend found this..." It makes sense to me that the friend's name was Jonathan, given the rest of David's commentary.…  more»

FWIW, I find it annoying that people assume all rappers are black. There are some quite good rappers of other ethnicities (I know someone mentioned French rap). And although some of this paper did sound plagiarized, it brings up some interesting points.…  more»
